The Water Soluble Wax Paint in a Tube - some basic information
This site is about the revolution of an artistic medium.
The Ancient's began their paintings using naturally available products.
Main in this were egg yolks for egg tempera and beeswax for encaustic.
Encaustic has most often been defined in modernity as use of heat as the solvent - molten wax.
... but information from antiquity suggests that encaustic involved
the use of beeswax with heat somewhere in the process,
not only perhaps in the actual application of the wax paint itself.
Water soluble wax paint - it almost sounds like a contradiction in terms
but scientific analysis finds great similarity to this formulation and that of the Ancient's.
